If you cannot see virtual hands in Vivid Vision while using HTC Vive controllers, follow these troubleshooting steps:
Step 1: Check controller status
Verify that the controllers are turned on and charged. The LED indicator should be green when using Vivid Vision.
Controller LED status indicators:
- Green: Controller is ready for use
- Blue: Controller is in pairing mode and searching for a headset
- Blinking blue: Controller is in pairing mode (activated by pressing the App and System buttons simultaneously)
- Blinking red: Low battery
- Orange: Charging (changes to white when fully charged)
- Off: Controller is not powered on
Step 2: Verify tracking in SteamVR
Open the SteamVR dashboard and confirm that the controllers show a green icon, indicating they are on and tracked. A grey icon means the controller is either off, not in view of the base stations, or in pairing mode. Check the LED indicator to confirm the controller status.
Step 3: Update Steam client
If SteamVR shows the controllers are tracked and you can see them in the headset, but they disappear after launching Vivid Vision, update your Steam client:
- Launch Steam
- Click Check for Steam Client Update...
- Steam will automatically identify and apply any available updates
Step 4: Contact support
If the issue persists after updating Steam, please contact support at:
- Phone: 877-877-0310 (US)
- Support request: Submit a ticket
